Check Out Status Indicators and Quick Action Menu Improvements
You can now see at a glance whether a report is checked out by someone else — a lock icon appears directly in the Reports list next to any file that is currently checked out, along with the name of the person who has it. This means you no longer need to open a report just to discover it is unavailable.
The quick action menu has also been expanded significantly. You can now Check Out, Edit, Check In, and Discard a report directly from the Reports list without ever opening the report itself. Previously, these actions required navigating into the report first. Bringing these controls to the Data Explorer saves time and reduces unnecessary clicks for your most common report management tasks.
Pagination in the Data Explorer
The Data Explorer previously used lazy loading, which required you to keep scrolling to reveal additional items. This made it difficult to judge how far you needed to scroll or to jump to a specific point in a long list. Proper pagination controls are now available at the bottom of the list, letting you move between pages on demand with a single click. You now have precise, predictable control over what you are viewing in the Data Explorer.
Multi-Select Gallery Import
When importing reports from the Gallery, you can now select multiple reports at once before clicking Import. Previously, reports had to be imported one at a time, and each imported report required a manual Check In step afterward. Now, all selected reports are imported and automatically checked in for you in a single operation, significantly reducing the number of steps required to bring Gallery content into your environment.
User Sync and UPN vs. Email Clarification
In the Administration section, you can now run a user sync that automatically pulls in updated names, email addresses, and other user details from your identity provider. This helps ensure your user records stay accurate over time without requiring manual edits when people's information changes.
This update also introduces a clearer distinction between a user's UPN (the account they log in with) and their Email, which can sometimes differ. Both values are now displayed and managed separately, reducing confusion when user login accounts and contact email addresses do not match.
Removal of Excel Ribbons and Improved Drill Down Experience
The Cosmos authoring and viewing ribbons that previously appeared in Excel have been removed. These ribbons were prone to loading failures and caused confusion, particularly because their reliability depended on Microsoft's ribbon infrastructure. By removing them, Cosmos can now deliver these capabilities in a more stable and controlled way through the Cosmos Excel Add-In itself.
Drill down functionality, which previously required navigating through the Cosmos ribbon menu, is now accessible directly inside the Add-In via a clearly marked Drill Down button. Previews have similarly moved into the Add-In, and data model syncs are available from the General tab. Keeping everything inside the Add-In gives Cosmos direct control over these features, so issues can be resolved without waiting on Microsoft updates.
Renamed Copy Controls and Enter Key to Save
The copy-related buttons in the Add-In have been renamed to make their purpose immediately clear. What was previously labeled generically as Copy is now split into distinct, descriptively named controls so you can tell at a glance whether you are copying a range to the clipboard or duplicating an aggregate. This removes a common source of confusion when working with report ranges and aggregates side by side.
Additionally, when you make a change to a field or setting in the Add-In, you can now press Enter to save it immediately. This small improvement eliminates the need to reach for the mouse after every edit, keeping your hands on the keyboard and your focus on the work.
