Overview
We're happy to announce several improvements to the Cosmos platform, including some big updates to how data model extensions are handled that will pave the way for a large number of upcoming improvements.
Highlights of this release include:
- Optimized Prebuilt Data Model
- Ability to Set Report Options to be Enabled by Default
- Data Model Headers are Sticky
- Data Model Source Tables Show the Data Source
- Improved Report Performance when Using Sheet Lists
Optimized Prebuilt Data Model
We have received several pieces of feedback that having several data model extensions to manage can sometimes be confusing to users. We will be streamlining everything into a single extension, called "Data Model", for all customers over the coming weeks. One of the main benefits of this is that users will no longer need to remember which tables and fields got associated with which extension; a user can simply check out the data model, make changes, and everything will live in one place. This will also streamline the process of adding additional data sources in the future.
Ability to Set Report Options to be Enabled by Default
We have received several requests for Report Editors to be able to control whether or not a Report Option is enabled by default. There may be several Report Options that you would like to have available to users, but you want them disabled by default so that the user doesn't need to manually turn off several Report Options each time they need to run the report. You can now control whether Report Options are enabled or disabled by default when a user runs a report.
Data Model Headers are Sticky
When working with data model tables that have many fields and many source tables, we have made it so that the headers will no longer scroll. This will ensure that users will be able to easily see which tables they are mapping fields into.
Data Model Source Tables Show the Data Source
When working with multiple BC data sources, we have added a tooltip to the data model source tables so you can easily see which data source each table comes from. This will make it easier to ensure that you are mapping fields into the correct data source table.
Improved Report Performance when Using Sheet Lists
We have greatly improved report performance of reports that use sheet lists by optimizing how these types of reports are processed in our reporting engine.
