Overview
There are times where you may want to switch back and forth between multiple data sources. An example of this could be a partner looking to switch between multiple demo data sources. This article will cover how to remove one Business Central data source and replace it with another one.
Details
When working with the data model, there are some cases where you may want to completely swap out one Business Central data source (for example, a demo database) with another Business Central data source. Currently, the pre-built Data Model Extensions that come in the Data Model Gallery will connect to the Business Central data source that was in place when the extensions were imported from the Gallery. Deleting the data source and adding a new Business Central data source will not hook the new data source up to the existing extensions.
To connect to a completely new Business Central tenant, you will first delete the existing Business Central data source (for example, you have originally connected it to a demo database), delete the existing extensions, and then add the new Business Central data source and then import the extensions again from the Data Model Gallery. This will effectively "reset" your environment with the new Business Central data source and the pre-built extensions hooked up to it.
