Overview
When using multiple Cosmos Environments, it can be useful to do work in one environment such as making updates to the data model and creating some new reports and then having the ability to send those changes from the current environment to a different environment without having to redo the work. In this article we will cover how to publish content between environments.
Details
To publish content between environments you need to have at least two environments configured and you need to have the Gallery Editor role assigned to you for the environment.
To publish reports to your internal Gallery, you will go to the report that you want to be shared between environments, click on the latest checked-in version and click the Add to Gallery button:
You can then click the folder to publish it to, such as the Published Items folder, and click Publish.
To publish your data model to your internal Gallery you will navigate to the Data Model section of the Cosmos Portal, click on the latest checked in version of the data model, and click the Add to Gallery button and follow the same steps outlined above.
To see the list of data models or reports that have been published to your internal Gallery you can click the Gallery Content button in the Administration section of your environment:
From here you can rename or move content items or delete them from the Gallery so they are no longer accessible to be imported into other environments.
To import reports in a different environment, switch to that environment, go to the Reports section, click New, and click the Gallery tab. You can then navigate to the environment that you want to import from, expand the folders, and select the content to import into this environment, and click Import.
