Overview
There are certain instances where a user may want to reverse the sign (e.g. turn a negative number into a positive number or vice versa) of a sum function in a report. This article covers how to control this behavior easily in Cosmos reports.
Details
When a Report Editor would like to reverse a sign in Cosmos there is a simple control that can be used to accomplish this. The user may want to reverse the amounts for revenue GL accounts, for example, so a particular balance shows as $100,000 instead of -$100,000 in the report. This is equivalent to multiplying a specific number by -1 in Excel.
To reverse the sign of a Cosmos sum function, the user will first click on the function to be reversed and navigate to the Aggregates tab of the Cosmos Task Pane.
From the Aggregates tab, the user will expand the Aggregate they want to reverse the sign for. Then Click EDIT for that Aggregate. Next expand the Data section and click the Reverse Sign checkbox. Finally click SAVE.
This will reverse, or flip, the sign of the summed amount when the report is run.
