There are certain instances where a user may want to reverse the sign (e.g. turn a negative number into a positive number or vice versa) of a sum function in a report. This article covers how to control this behavior easily in Cosmos reports.
When a Report Editor would like to reverse a sign in Cosmos there is a simple control that can be used to accomplish this. The user may want to reverse the amounts for revenue GL accounts, for example, so a particular balance shows as $100,000 instead of -$100,000 in the report. This is equivalent to multiplying a specific number by -1 in Excel.
To reverse the sign of a Cosmos sum function, the user will first click on the function to be reversed and navigate to the Fields section of the Cosmos Report Editor.
From the Fields section, the user will expand the Function section and then check the box near the bottom of this section labeled "Reverse Sign".
This will reverse, or flip, the sign of the summed amount when the report is run.
