Preview Diagnostics provides a way for Report Editors to see what is happening when a preview of a report is running and to see error messages related to the report. This will help Report Editors know when something was done incorrectly when the report is being created or edited.

Preview Diagnostics provides a way for Report Editors to see a detailed list of what is happening when a report is running. This will assist with the report writing process by ensuring that users have access to report details if something is causing an error or preventing a report from running successfully.

To enable Preview Diagnostics, you will want to go to the Settings button in the Cosmos ribbon in Excel:

You will then click the hamburger icon in the upper-left corner, click on Authoring and toggle on the Preview Diagnostics button.

Once Preview Diagnostics is enabled, when you run a Preview of a report there will be a button visible that you can use to turn on Preview Diagnostics for that report run.

You will then be able to go to the Preview Diagnostics section on the right-hand side of the Cosmos Excel Add-In to see the status of the report and what is occurring while the report is running.

If there are errors in the report, they will be shown in the Preview Diagnostics window as shown below.
